Mock Orange
The YELLOW PINE FOREST is rather widespread in California, occurring in northern California at altitudes of 3000-6000 feet, in the Sierra Nevada at elevations of from 2000-6500 feet and in southern California at 5000-8000 feet. This community receives an average of from 25080 inches of precipitation a year with part of it coming as snow. From this area come the Yellow Pine (Pinus ponderosa), the Sugar Pine (P. lambertiana), Incense Cedar (Libocedrus decurrens), Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), the California Black Oak (Quercus kelloggii), Ceanothus integerrimus, the ThimbleBerry (Rubus parviflorus), the Mock Orange (Philadelphus lewisii var. californica), Sequoiadendron giganteum and the California Nutmeg (Torreya californica).
