California Poppies & Globe Gilia
Wildflowers
that in small groups do not seem fragrant will sometimes reveal delicious aromas in large masses. Observing pollinators adds an extra dimension to the experience. Note pollen color; Gilias have blue pollen. Some flowers change color when they have been pollinated, which saves the pollinators a wasted trip. Researchers have found that scent also changes once pollination has occurred.
